Hi everyone! I can tell that we've entered the part of the year where everyone is flying because launches are going fast! I didn't fly this morning just because there weren't any planes available. I did get in a flight Wednesday morning which was great. We focused on takeoffs and landings instead of maneuvers to help with the learning plateau. While I still didn't get the lesson complete, it felt really good to focus on something else. We did short field takeoffs and landings, soft field takeoffs and landings, and power off 180 landings. One of my biggest problems currently is that I'm not flaring enough. I'm letting the wheels touch down before I'm at my max pitch up for a landing, which is causing my landings to be flat. For this, one of the solutions I'm going to try is adjusting my trim. I normally land with the trim I had in to hold my airspeed and altitude in my downwind. Instead, I'm going to set my trim to neutral next time. This forces me to have a little extra forward pressure during the traffic pattern, but it should help during my round out and flare. Next time, I think I'm doing maneuvers again. My instructor's plan is to have me switch back and forth until I've mastered everything in the lesson. We both agreed another solution to a training plateau would be training with someone else for a flight, but that isn't really possible with COVID. Hopefully next flight goes well too, wish me luck!
