Getting involved with clubs

As I write this post, I am currently quarantined in the La Quinta in Grand Forks. I was a close contact last Friday from playing sports with someone, so I am now quarantined until next Friday. Lucky for me, all of my COVID-19 tests so far have come back negative, so now I am quarantined as a precaution. This has been a great opportunity to catch up on homework, since I've had nothing but time to do projects, study for finals, and study for my written. While it sucks I have to take a couple weeks off from flying, it will be good to be prepared to take my written.
Anyway, since I'm not flying this week, I figured I would discuss the extracurricular side of aviation school. One of the biggest recommendations I can give to underclassmen is to join clubs. Not only do these clubs look great on a resume, but they give invaluable opportunities to students. Two of the organizations I'm involved in, UND NGPA and UND WAI, have given me amazing experiences that I'm forever grateful for. These clubs help me get involved locally and nationally. One of the best perks about being involved in clubs is the conferences. Every year, both NGPA and WAI have a conference. Not only is it a fun experience, but the networking and presentations at these conferences are invaluable for an aviation student. This was such a great way for my club members to bond, and we got to meet a lot of new friends. It's also a great opportunity to leave the Grand Forks winter.
Next week, I'll go over different organizations to join and what they do!
