Virga

Good morning! Today, I got weathered from virga in the north. We had to cancel the flight right before I left for the airport since it wasn't forecasted. For those that don't know, virga happens when precipitation like rain or snow falls, but evaporates before it actually touches the ground. This means you could be standing on the ground and stay dry, but an airplane up at elevation might be getting rained on. Since it's so cold, we have to avoid precipitation at all costs which is why we cancelled. Virga can also produce downdrafts, which is dangerous while flying. I got in a couple flights last week, and hopefully I'll be able to fly on Wednesday. Last week, one of my weakest areas was eights-on-pylons. The key to this maneuver is anticipation. If you're constantly adjusting based on how the aircraft is reacting, you'll be behind the entire time. But if you anticipate based on the winds, the maneuver will go very smoothly. I spent my maneuver reacting instead of anticipating, so I'm hoping to change that next lesson.

I also have my second interview with an airline for an internship position this week. I am so nervous for it, but I'm also very excited. This internship would be located near my aunt, and it would be amazing to live near her. This internship also fits my degree perfectly, and I feel honored just to get a second interview. Wish me luck!
